Wes Sherrod
Associate Pastor
Wes is a Bulloch County native and grew up in Stilson. After graduating from Southeast Bulloch
High School, he went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Georgia Tech.
Wes was called into the ministry at a young age and was licensed to preach the gospel by Old
Fellowship Baptist Church in August 2001.
Wes served as an interim pastor at Eldora Baptist Mission, which later became constituted and
known as Eldora Baptist Church. After serving as an interim for a year, Wes became the long
term senior pastor of the church for several years. Wes also served as a lay speaker at
Brooklet United Methodist Church for several years before joining the ministry at Lighthouse
Baptist Church in April 2021.
Wes is married to his wife of 21 years, Jennifer. They have one son, Isaac. When he’s not
working, Wes enjoys spending his time gardening, tending his chickens, running, and kayaking.
Jennifer Sherrod
Director of Children's Ministries
Jennifer is a Bulloch County native. Although she has moved around some, she has lived most
of her life in the southeastern end of Bulloch County. After graduating from Southeast Bulloch
High School, she went on to become a double eagle by graduating with Bachelor’s and Master’s
degrees in education from Georgia Southern University. Not long after, Jennifer earned an
Education Specialist degree from Valdosta State University. In addition, she earned a
Certificate of Biblical Studies from Guido Bible College.
Jennifer has devoted her life to serving children in whatever capacity the Lord leads. She has
worked in the field of education for more than 21 years, but she has also held various volunteer
roles in the churches where she has been a member. Her volunteer roles have included serving
in the children’s ministry, youth ministry, prayer shawl ministry, Sunday School, choir, and more.
Currently, she is serving Lighthouse Baptist Church as the Director of Children’s Ministries.
Jennifer is married to her husband of 21 years, Wes. They have one son, Isaac. When she’s
not working, Jennifer enjoys reading, walking, and kayaking.
Jim Jonas
Director of Social Media
Jim has been involved in the body of Christ since 1987 as a Deacon, Elder, Sunday School teacher, small group and home fellowship leader. Rae Marie, his wife of 13 years, has been involved with women’s ministries, small group, and home fellowship ministries. Both do one on one discipleship training with individuals in the church as well. Community functions and involvement are just two ways they stay active. Together they have 6 adult children, 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Currently, Jim is serving Lighthouse Baptist Church as the Director of Social Media. He loves to fellowship over a meal and looks forward to meeting and getting to know you.
